In the summer of 2025, the ZKH Archaeological Project held a 12-day field season. Our goals for the field season were to document and map the landscape, locate cemeteries and settlements, and carry out a small test excavation. Our team identified more than 70 sites through pedestrian survey. This pilot study helped us better understand the chronology of the occupation of the region and the distribution of sites. This insight will be used to guide our 2026 field season.
